Our choice of servers and operating systems come from our beta test evaluation of the operating systems and from the maintenance and technical support of the products. If the system performs reliably, gives good performance and value for money you will find that we recommend it.
With any size of system, it should not be underestimated the potential resource or knowledgebase that is required in the planning of your network infrastructure and in the event of any system failure. |

Virtualisation Server Solutions
Virtualisation refers to concept in which access to a single physical server, is configured to run multiple guest operating systems (e.g. Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008) concurrently. Put another way, on 1 physical machine, you could have a virtual Exchequer server, a virtual file server, a virtual Terminal server. This means that should updates need to be installed or maintenance need to be performed on 1 of your server, only that role (e.g. Exchequer or e-mails) is not available, not the whole network. Also, just like a real physical server, your virtual servers can be restarted, shut down, upgraded, backed up......only a lot quicker and much more efficiently than standard server procedures. |
| |
 |
The Virualisation concept has been around for a number of years by various vendors such as VM Ware, but it is only in the last 12-18 months that Microsoft have offered it as part of their latest server operating system (Windows 2008 with Hyper-V) for free. Additionally in the last 12-18 months, the hardware to support virtualiastion has also become widely available. |
|
The benefits of using Virtualisation in your organisation include:-
- Reduced Power Cost
- Reduced Noise
- Increase scalability
- Much quicker process to restart or shut down a server
- Works with NT 4 Server
- Memory and processor upgrades can be performed "remotely" from DCS
- Lower Capital Investment than a traditional server infrastructure
- An organisation can run their existing server infrastructure on latest, fastest and most reliable hardware
- Easy to migrate to loan / replacement server if required
- Works in a cluster environment when high availability is required
- Snapshots can be taken of virtual servers before and development work or upgrades carried out
- The process of upgrading the hardware and upgrading software become mutually exclusive

It is easy to be misled by Computer Jargon.
Always ask whether your supplier's staff are Microsoft certified.
DCS has been providing quality technical services since 1982.
We are a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and have been officially recognised by Microsoft for our Network Infrastructure Solutions.
|
|
Five of our sixteen technical engineering staff are fully qualified Microsoft Certified System Engineers (MCSE), the remaining engineers have Microsoft qualifications in various areas of specialisation (MCP). These Microsoft qualifications are the only formal proof that an engineer has the knowledge and expertise to implement and support Microsoft based systems. The difference that knowledge makes should not be underestimated.
We can offer consultancy on the specifying of any size of computer and cabling system to maximise performance and to minimise the risk of system failure and data loss.
